As promised, I had to come try the Beverly Hills location after a wonderful experience in Austin but this time with my bf in tow. Lol. They’re located inside the beautiful SLS Hotel. Since this wasn’t my first rodeo we made sure to arrive 30 minutes early for the canape service. The flow is pretty much the same: you check in, get seated with your batch mates and they start you off with a drink and a couple of small bites. Then you’re brought inside, find your name, and that’s your seat for the night. We also decided to do the Japanese whiskey pairing add on. Each pour was thoughtfully matched with the courses. If you’re into whiskey it’s definitely worth it! I loved my first visit in Austin. Special shoutout to my friends for putting me on so I really wanted my bf to experience it too! The space is small only 10 seats very intimate and dimly lit. Everyone gets a front row view of the sushi chefs in action! The menu is written on a chalkboard behind them so you can follow along as they serve each of the 16 courses. The chefs were engaging and explained each piece without overdoing it. Every bite was fresh, clean and just melts in your mouth. The quality is a consistent 10/10! I really appreciate that they’re very accommodating with my dietary needs. It matters so much to me. Big shoutout to Ope for taking care of us. Loved her energy! I was told the Encino location is the OG so that might be our next visit. We had a wonderful time here and would definitely come back!

Had such an amazing time here. Love the fusion flavor and every piece tasted completely new. Definitely an LA sushi taste that I’ll be thinking about for a long time! Drinks were also tasty and strong.

My mouth waters when I think back on our exquisite dining experience last night at Sushi by Scratch. It really left NOTHING to be desired. From the service to the atmosphere to the food to the drinks. It's worth every penny that we paid. And a big shout out to our host Max.....his knowledge of his mixologist craft really added to our experience.

i felt like i was high i had such a good time. Each bite has a uniquely modern twist which made things super interesting and exciting. But what really left a mark was the hospitality. The head chef was so so so kind and generous. Incredible to watch. The bartender had such good energy and made the most incredible drinks. Better than ones I’ve had at restaurants that have award-winning beverage programs. Hojicha mocktail? I need 5000. The new sous chef also made our experience. He was SO entertaining and SO fun to yap with all while working his magic. Truly one of the best and memorable dining experiences I have ever had. Thank you BH Sushi by Scratch team for the best time ever!

Great service. Everyone is personable. Nice set up for sushi. As for food, this is sushi for people who don’t like the taste of raw fish. Every piece has insane amount of sauces. Every sauce known to man - you name it. They literally drizzle sauces over each piece. One has like 5 sauces on them and had no coherence. And SO MUCH salt and many times sugar and honey. One piece tasted just like hot chicken wings. If that’s what you want in sushi, I guess you might enjoy it. They also way overcooked the wagyu where it was burnt. In the end maybe the fish was high quality but I doubt it. Generally when you drench food w strong sauces you’re hiding bad quality of the ingredients. Rice has strong odor of vinegar, altho that can be a style, and was slightly undercooked. Also first time seeing a sushi chef w very thick set of facial hair - and no mask or net. He looks more like a mixologist than a sushi chef. I could just see the bacteria falling from his beard onto the sushi… thankfully the strong sauces and overcooking of wagyu will kill the bacteria.

The overall experience was amazing! Their omakase isn’t your typical traditional style—it’s modern and contemporary, offering a fresh and innovative take on sushi. Every bite brought new and unique flavors, completely unlike the traditional sushi I’ve had before. Each piece was topped with a different sauce or garnish, all of which carried a distinctive and refreshing aroma. I’ve dined at many sushi places, but I’ve never encountered such a unique flavor profile and attention to detail. This wasn’t just about the food—it was also a fantastic experience. Highly recommended!✅✅✅✅✅✅✅

This was one in a lifetime experience. Walking into the special enormous room at the hotel... the incredible view took my breath away. I was shocked by the greeter as she called me by name and escorted me to a bar where I got to try the welcome drink which was refreshing and tasteful. I enjoyed how the chef and team made this personal and told stories about each piece of sushi they created. I enjoyed every single piece of it and to my surprised I was satisfied but never felt like I feel each time I go to other sushi restaurants (feeling blowed or like passing out after eating so much rice). The way they prepare the rice is not as sticky thus you are supposed to eat it with your hands. But they provide a wet towel for you to clean your hands constantly. The bartender was next level and I really enjoyed how attentive he was to what I wanted. I also enjoye the personal connection with other people in the 10 member group who was there that evening. What I really enjoyed was seeing my name written correctly and spelled as I spell my name next to each personalized bite.
